Recently we have watched Pride & Prejudice again (the one with Keira Knightly). 2 days afterwards, we were still speaking in high Jane Austen words, like “I Shan’t” (go to buy milk) or “Mama” (please don’t call again at 7am). We dreamed of green English meadows, country side picnics and ball dresses (and for someone to confess his love in the rain). While this short “phase” had passed (though it’s still raining, there’s still a chance), our Anglophilia was lit again when we saw Lilian Asterfield’s neck kerchiefs. We covet them ardently.
Lilian Asterfield is the brand name launched in 2008 by Nicole Deponte, an artist and designer, in which she redefines the tie. She creates beautiful neck kerchiefs and necklaces from vintage ties, sewing them one into the other. The results are beautiful neck accessories, for men and women, with ruffles, colors and textures that could upgrade any outfit, especially work clothes. With an industrial snap for simple closing and opening, this beautiful classic-turned-edgy accessory might make you find yourself inviting people over for 5 o’clock tea and cucumber triangle sandwiches, followed by horseback riding in the forest.
